  Americana V : John Prine
John Prine was given a Lifetime Achievement Award for songwriting by the UK's BBC Radio and was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Prine has taken his place as one of the most influential songwriters of his generation. Bob Dylan said that Prine was one of his favorite writers, stating "Prine's stuff is pure Proustian existentialism. And he writes beautiful songs."

Kate Wolf was an American folk singer and songwriter. Though her career was relatively short, she had a significant impact on the folk music scene. She died at age 44, after a long battle with leukemia. Kate Wolf's music is celebrated each year toward the end of June at the Kate Wolf Memorial Music Festival.
